Not to disagree with RD users, but you need to get what you pay for. The seals on RD are no better than Sequence. The wattage difference can never be made up in electric cost over the life span of the pump. Smaller model Sequence are more than big enough and very quiet.
Sequence baby, Sequence.

PVs, very nicely done. If I can add only one thing , it would be that the corrugated flex pvc is very restrictive. If it were smoother (unfortunately not totally smooth) it would be less restrictive and an ideal DIY description. All those ribs cause a lot of turbulence within the pipe causing head loss.
I have a length of corrugated that is smooth on the inside, I think the ribs on mine just keep it from getting kinked. I only wish I knew where it came from as I would like to get another shorter one for the tank I'm setting up.

Any new pumps since this thread has been started? I' running a Eheim 1262, but might be moving the sump into the basement and will need to look for a new return pump.

Looking for the same performance as the Ehiem, but in a larger capacity. Some like a Red Dragon, but with out the cost.

I have (gulp) 2 Rio Aqua pumps - and they're both dying. I need new pumps fast - one pumps from the sump into my refugium and the other pumps back up into the tank - so they have to be the same pump. I'd like them to be submersible.

What do you think of Ocean Runner Pumps model 2500? It's cheaper than the Eheim and uses less electricity. For that matter, the Mag Drive is cheaper than the Eheim as well. Do you think I should go with the Mag drive instead?

I really like Eheim products, they may be more expensive but they are reliable in my experience.

Sorry to say this bronxer, but you're flirting with disaster. What happens if only one of the two pumps craps out on you? Lets say it's the return pump from the fuge back to the sump. Then the pump running in the sump will continue to supply the fuge with no way for the water to return to the sump other than overflow the fuge.

Lets say the sump pump dies. Then the pump in the fuge will continue to pump water into the sump, emptying the fuge and possibly overflowing the sump.

Bottom line is, you shouldn't use two pumps. You should rig the fuge so that it only flows back to the sump via gravity.
