hello everyone - i'm new to the hobby and dont know much about it but im learning day by day lol... i just bought a deep blue 60 gallon cube and will be starting the builld soon, ive been reading a ton about this on forums and reviews from online stores, and getting some advice from a friend who has a tank. im just getting all my equipment in order and hopefully you guys can give me some advice and some opinions on what to do or what else i need. So far i have a deep blue 60 gallon rimless cube, the deep blue stand, the new aqua illuminations vega in white, s-120 cone skimmer, eshopps wd-75cs (but not sure if thats the right one i need or if it will even fit my s-120 skimmer and mag 700 pump in it, because iver heard alot of them dont fit its hard to find a good match - not sure if it will yet or if thats even true) but any advice on that would be great, mag 700 pump, corallife turbo twist uv sterilizer, marineland heater, 2/20 lb bags of live sand, and going to order a vortech mp10 soon, and when im ready im going to buy the premixed boxed water instead of trying to mix my own salt water... so basically thats all i have right now, dont know if i need anything else but if i do please let me know or give me your opinions if i should use something different than what i have. I will take some pictures and update along the way as i go! thanks

My biggest issue right now is the sump... Haven't tried it yet but don't think the eshopps wd75 that I have is the right one... Don't know if it will fit my skimmer and pump and not even sure if that's even the right type of sump I need I thought it would when I bought it but I didnt know anything about sumps when I bought it... And now Ive been researching everything and I'm not sure about it

You can make your own sump and use the money you saved to get something else you may need or fish and coral.

You can buy and RODI (water filter) from bulkreefsupply.com and you will also be able to see all the replacements that are much cheaper than anywhere i have seen. They have saved me a few bucks on filtration supply including carbon and gfo.

If you need help building a sump let me know, if you are not too far i maybe able to help and give you a hand. Just pm.

The sump will be the place you will be keeping everything like the heater, skimmer and anything else you can think of. It will provide a cleaner look and keep it out of view.

Dont rush it and start filling it with water and throwing fish and coral the next day. Make sure you test your water and give it time to cycle correctly. If you dont know what the cycle process is then you need to read up on it or try googling it. You might even try looking in up on here and i am sure you will find something that can help.

I agree with buying a bucket of salt; its better cheaper and doesnt take up as much space. Just make sure you always measure your salinity and mix well.

If you need anymore advise or have questions feel free to drop me a pm, this hobby can get very expensive. Make sure you read up and ask question.

Well thank you for the advice but I actually went over to maximum reef in Yonkers, and that was my first time there I found out about it on this forum actually and took a ride over there and I'm glad I did. The place was great very nice and helpful, they are actually going to make me a custom sump/refugium to fit in my stand. I don't know if they make good sumps I'm taking a chance but from the way everyone on this forum talked about how great this place is and from how nice of a shop it is I told him to make me a good one lol. The price was so reasonable I couldn't beat it so I just went with it, I can't take it anymore I just want to get this thing going and that was my last issue before I could start my tank. I'll let everyone no how it turns out when I get it in a few days i can't wait. They had a great selection of fish they looked very healthy, everything was very clean so far I would definitely recommend this store, can't wait to get the tank running bc I'm definitely buying my first fish there (my lion fish)

Also if anyone knows of someone who does installation in the westchester area please let me know because I've never done it before and want it done professionally/correctly so I don't have water leaking from everywhere if I do it lol... The guy at maximum reef does installation and will use all PVC so I think I'm going to let him do it because that price is extremely reasonable also. but if anyone here has any recommendations of someone that they know or anyone who does this stuff let me no please...thanks a lot

Look forward to the set up coming together. Im in the bx on the boarder of westchester so if you need any advise or some starter coral let me know. I can probably get you some to start.
