So, I have this tank up and running for years now, and don?tknow the direction I want to take. It has been a lot of fun, and the kids loveit, but don?t know if I am into it any more. I have had tanks (fresh and Salt) for30 years now, and as it happens every few years, I get board and give up the hobby.I am sure I would come back in the future as I have always done. I just don?thave the time for all the work involved. So I was thinking of breaking down thewhole thing and getting out of the hobby for now, or doing a fish only setup.Hoping there will be less work involved. My issue is I built a room around mysystem, and would have to do some light construction in my home if I were toget rid of the system. I am sure my wife would love to use the room as a closet?

Your thoughts?

i wouldn't take the room down, just sell your live stock clean everything up and close the door. this way when you get the itch to come back its all ready cause you know you will be back. lock the room and don't give it up cause you'll never get it back.

Sometime you just need a break. My 2 year break was just what I needed to get me back into the hobby again. As for the equipment.....sell it all! In a couple years you're going to want all new stuff anyway. The technology changes pretty fast these days.

I took a 3 year break after losing 3 tanks with corals and fish that were all between 8-12 years old. Had a party woke up the next morning and all fish were dead and most corals, not to mention the water was milky gray. That was enough for me to break down everything and sale it. But I came back after 3 years, said I wouldn't
, but walked into a Lfs and felt the urge.

I feel you have to put yourself first. :D If you feel you have to get out for a much needed break then be it. If you miss it MR will still be there!:grouphug: I got out 11 months ago and counting and I'm very happy.I will never be back and the reason is I never had the time and I never will due to my lifestyle. My tank suffered all the time and so did my conscious.
