HEY EVERYONE,

I JUST JOINED THE MANHATTAN REEF SITE AND WANTED TO SAY HELLO TO EVERYONE. I HAVE A 20 GALLON TANK I JUST SET UP IN MY OFFICE AND WAITING FOR MY LIVE ROCK FOR IT [15 LBS] AND WANTED SOME IDEA'S FOR A FOCAL POINT IN THE TANK , MY LIGHTING RIGHT NOW IS A 15 WATT 6500 50/50 BULB....I KNOW I NEED MORE LIGHT. ANY IDEA'S WOULD BE GREAT AND HOW MUCH MORE LIGHTING WOULD I NEED FOR AN
ANEMONE FOR MAYBE A CLOWN.

hERE'S A PICTURE OF THE 90 GALLON I HAVE IN MY DINING ROOM:

I would stay away from the anemone for a long tank until your tank establishes itself PC lighting would be minimum for the anemone depending on the anemone you select. As for focal point that is all in the eye of the beholder.

I would establish the focul point by arranging my rock - this way, you don't have to worry about what you put there and eventually, you'll have plenty to look at, but that rock work brings you back to center.

large peak or perhaps a ledged cave down the center always catches my eye.

Nice start, BTW and welcome to Manhattanreefs

Welcome to MR.

I think 6500K color is ugly for any SW stuff including just looking at the bare rock and sand. :eek1:

I agreed with Chief that PC light is min for anemone and make sure you don't expect a regular strip light will do the job.

I would paint the back of the tank either black or blue rather than using one of the plastic sheet. Salt always creep into there.

How long have you had the tanks. The sand bed seems so white????

Welcome to MR! :)

About lighting, I think you should make up your mind at this point about what type of corals you want to keep (SPS, LPS...etc). Then work from there....

i was looking at a 110 watt pc light for the 20 gallon, should be more then enough light for anything i want to do with it. think I'm going to do softies and meybe a few LPS.

Thanks for all the imput!

I also don't see an anemone in the nano either. I see GSP, Button Polyps, Candy canes and favia. Am I missing something?
