Just curious what everyone thoughts are on the Red Sea alk test. i have been using this for the past 4 months, and i always get the same readings basically between 8.4/8.7 obv this is good because my alk is consistent but i am wondering if this is really that accurate? or is there a better test out there to use.

really, i like the salifert for calcium, it seems pretty right on point, i just thought it was odd that my alkalinity test always comes back the same i would think some where in these 4 months i would get some what of a fluctuation but i guess i am getting pretty good at the chemistry side of reefin :). i have to buy a new test maybe ill just stick with the red sea then.

Testing makes me crazy sometimes. if you actively test and watch your livestock you can form a good idea of when things are in line. I use salifert and I'm happy with the new style kits (not sure when exactly they changed them but they are much more accurate)

I try to keep things stable and modify dosing to see where everything seems best and just keep it there the best I can.

I use the Red Sea and am happy with it. I had an issue with Salifert where the results never varied and it turned out to be a bad batch. For something as important as Alk I would bring a sample to a LFS just to double check. Your results seem to be a little too consistent.
