Clams at Petco

Anyone know if Petco down in Union Square has anymore clams, I'm looking for a small blue maxima clam.

I just pick up a really nice one but I'm looking for another blue one. I hope they're still alive, a couple of days is all it take at Petco.

jesus christ! 30-40$??? this hobby is going down the freakin' tubes. every numbnut with an undergravel filter, a fluval, and a flourescent light is gonna kill a clam. Kill a clam, kill the hobby. PETA got the large birds out of Petco, soon they're gonna stop bringing in everything under the sun.

are their clams cultivated by any chance?

How much do you think small clams go for away? Most on-places sell them for around that price range, depending on the type and size of clam.

Most people would buy a flame scallops before a clam because they're alot cheapier and most of the time they're wide open as opposited to clams. Even though the scallop is going to die anyway.

At that size do they still have to be hand-fed all the time, or are they grown enough to feed off of the light for the most part?

How many clams where there when you came, I was there is the afternoon, about 2:30, and there where 3 clams left. They where a little small for me, I want something where you don't have to feed it about 3". I picked up a bunch of hermit crabs for my large tank.

I just picked up a 3" on ebay that blue/black with a gold rim. I'll post pictures hopefully today.

I agree, with the few that we buy think how many clams end up in tank with no light (yes pun intended) and end up dead.
I'm not sure PETA will take up a fight for clams though.
picketing with save the clam posters is not good PR.

Mike there were about 3 and only one was a blueish purple the rest were golds

Just before I got there someone purchased 2 clams so I thought that may have been you. Can't wait to see the pictures I'm sure it looks better in your tank than theirs. I have to admit though the clams where in pretty good shape considering it was in their tanks for a # of days.

Did you get the Crocea clam in the front, I think that was the purple one, or the other 2 in the back.

It was a maxima, and I didn't see a crocea, so people must have gobbled them up.

The women working there told me she just sold 2 before I got, she also told me that they were $40 each. Did you get the discount with the PAL card? I got a discount on the hermits.
