My power has now been out over 24hrs. I have a 60g tank and running a battery opp air pump. The fish seem ok so far corals are all closed up but the tank is getting cold. How long can the fish and corals survive with out heat?

I had triggers in 50 degree water in ct for 2 days during winter storm

Boil water mix with ro water add salt.. The fish will hide in rocks I even put hot water inside and stirred .. They will lose their color and turn pale white..

Good luck..

Cover tank with blankets . Yes the temperature is critical as oxygen.

I also would use pitcher to pickup water then pour back in this will give oxygen.. If I think of something else get back to you...

I don't know that adding boiling water is a good idea. There's too much of a risk of hitting corals or fish directly and I can't imagine the temp swings would be very healthy.

I would just try to keep the blankets on the tank for insulation and keep the water oxygenated.

Well I checked on the tank today and the fish and corals are still alive, not happy but living. The tank is still wrapped in towels and blankets and I just put fresh batteries in the air pump temp reads just under 70. If they can make it one more night they should be ok since con Ed says we should be restored by tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Desperate times call for desperate measures.. My fish would have died but your right maybe hot water in thermos and drop inside .. Then once it cools throw in water... Good luck
