I've already got a fan in my canopy, so I've been looking around for other ways to help keep my tank cool without having to splurge for a chiller.

I came acrooss the following on ebay:

Anyone on MR ever purchase on of these before?
Does it seem worthwhile or is it just a waste?

i have seen these in action and they seem to do pretty well. have you considered putting a regular fan over your sump? that seems to work for many memebers.

I can't see how it is a bad purchase.
What's good about that unit is that it can be adjusted.

I was going to purchase one a while back, but my fan in the sump works fine.

They also have models with up to 6 fans.

Will the fan be positioned down or up? I would imagine that if it's pointed up your evaporation would drastically increase. Pointing down probably won't have much of an effect.

Just something to consider.

The same as any other fan.

You want to go across the water surface to assist in cooling off.
You're going to get evaporation. That's a given.
Better than having a 90 degree tank.
