Yesterday I had the pleasure of purchasing and having my Fathom LED units installed by FathomLED himself and I must say, they are impressive. He installed the lights and explained every single detail of the lights and demonstrated why his product is the best LED available.

I first saw these lights at Richie's house (Rkaragozler) and from that moment I was sold on these units. Not only is the price great but IMO, these lights are better than ECOTECH, AI and Vertex. 100% coverage in my tank of light. My corals even though I am just starting out with corals are already responding very very well.

I took these pics with an old Kodak Digital Camera.

dont mean to burst your bubble but have you had any other LED lights. Plus you just got them how can you say something is the best when you havent even grown any coral or see how the light changes the color of them. Im sure the owner is a great guy but you need to give it a few months to really determine if they are that good. also looks like you have a bunch of shaded areas in the tank

Simplyzbest2000. Thanks for the kind words and it was truly a pleasure meeting you and working on your tank. I hope you truly enjoy the lights and like i told you if there is anything you need please dont hesitate I am here 24/7.

Just a quick note to all jumping on one man's opinion which he is certainly entitled to have.

The lights are running at 55% to acclimate the polyps he has in his tank. At 100% the total par at sand bed was measured to be 150-175 umols. More than enough for him to put anything he wants on his sandbed. As far as other companies i am not going to comment on it but would gladly be willing to take the numbers you are reading either via par meter, spectrometer, irradiance and Reflectance meters should any one else have such equipment or possibly i can bring my units for testing and we can do a comparision. Our primary interest is not just the lights and POP but the ability to buy a frag and grow a colony, so we may share more information with each other in regards to LEDs, how they effect our livestock and share more of our beloved corals with each other with unselfish intent should we ever need to help each other out such as we recently had to due to the storm.

A man's opinion is his right. No matter what the subject is.

I mentioned above that I was sold from seeing them on my boy's tank (Rkaragozler). He has had them for a long time and I am sure he has one of the best tanks on this forum. He has had no issues at all. Yes they are new on my tank and immediately from installing it last night till now, I see a significant increase already in my Polys.

I can also vouch for these lights. They are good, support is great and he actually cares if the lights are providing the proper spectrum for the corals to grow properly. Richies tank has seen improvements since these lights not to mention the electric bill I am sure hahaha. Try em out, they're cheaper than the competition and just as good IMO.

nice diy wouldn't call it the best

look into ecotech radions

DIY is not something I think you can justify calling the unit. As the client did not make it. On top of that if you consider your typical DIY fixture the builder typically does not own Spectrometers, and testing equipment for irradiance and reflectance of light. I do not know if you are aware that shifting spectrums is not something you want to constantly play around with when it comes to your corals. What looks good to your eye does not necessarily mean it is good for the coral. A very knowledgeable guy on this forum said something to me i will never forget and i think that goes for most of us. "If you give me 2000 colors to play with i am going to try all 2000 colors" To me that sounds like imminent death of your beloved corals. So basically you are playing a guessing game with your animals welfare. But your opinion is your right. May i ask what are you running? And if it is the brand you mentioned may i request you come by so i may test your settings on some corals to see if the wavelengths you are actually being absorbed by the coral for growth or if they are merely being reflected by the coral as a useless wavelength. Not knocking anything just love doing research in regards to this.

Fathom LED Pharos

I have four Pharos LED units hanging over my 300 gallon reef since July 2012 so I am well qualified to give an honest opinion of my experience with these lights to date.

Since I added these lights I have had nothing less than exceptional coral growth. I have not had any issues with dark spots or poor light penetration on any of my corals including SPS and LPS. Corals resting on my substrate are 42 inches from the Pharos fixtures. Regardless, I remain impressed by the quality of light provided all the way down to the substrate by this product.

As for researching other LEDs. All I can say is a very knowledgable individual with one of the best reefs in the TRI state area did exhaustive research comparing many of the top selling LEDs available in this hobby. Not to mention he actually had the LEDs hanging over half his tank and Metal Halides on the other half of the tank for a week. He patiently observed how his corals reacted to the LED experiment. If any of you know Richie you know that he will not settle for anything but perfection.

Once I had the opportunity to view these lights hanging on Richie's reef I was impressed by how great the tank looked. I have seen several versions of the AIs, both generations of the Radions, Pacific Suns, you name it. The Pharos is IMO a premier light. Those of you who call this a DIY product are doing nothing more than speaking out of ignorance.

In regards to customer service, there is non better. He is available 24/7 and will not rest until his clients are nothing more than 100% satisfied.
