Those of you guys who run Icecap fans in your canopy, are they really worth the $45-$60? I know they have the heat sensor thing where the speed adjusts, but is it worth getting as compared to the $20-$25 brand?
Comments? Experiences? Thanks.

I have two in my hood. they are quiet, but when you shut them off you realize they still make a lot of noise.
As for the temp gauge thing it's hard for me to tell if it works.
they always seem to be running at the same speed.

I also have 2 of the 4" versions in my hood and they are by no means whisper quite. I do however have my canopy closed so you really don't hear them but like jhale said once they stop you realize they were making noise.

The pro's to these fans are they do move a lot of air and from what I can tell the temp gauge works fairly well.

I have 2 regular clip-on fans I got from a hardware store; they're plugged into my temp controller. I can't hear them running. Total retail cost for both: $14+tax.

Thanks for the info guys. Noise is not an issue in this house. I think my family makes more noise in here than any fish tank. Plus after a while you tend to mute it all out anyway. Like my overflow for example. Will attempt to try the computer fans first and see how that goes. 1st I have to start building my canopy, but been pretty busy these days.
