i had placed my rbta @ the bottom left of my 28bow. it decided to move from there and spent a day or two all the way in the back behind the rockwork. this weekend it decided to come out of hiding and is now right next to my toadstool. should i be worried. the area where the rbta is touching there is no polyp extension from the toad. i can move the toad since it's on an isolated rock but i fear the rbta attached to this same rock. will there be a war?
to bad my female hasn't hosted it. i think that will make it stay put. she used to host before it split.
can she tell the difference between the two rbta?

An unhappy BTA will roam regardless if it's host to a clown or not. Move the toadstool, as you've already seen polyp retraction on the toadstool.

i have heard and found this to be true:
1.rbta hosted
2.placed in a pit

will lessen the chances of roaming around. i think he will stay put. he just wanted more light. he's about a foot above where he used to be.

If you have another clown from your many tanks, try to put him/her in to see if it will live there. If not get a anemone shrimp which will not fight with your clown to stablize the RBTA. Anemone crabs will do too-only couple dollars, adding more fun and likely to solve the problem-better than loosing a loved coral.

However, if it is moving up the tank, I think it wants more light, therefore, try to predict where is the best location it will stay with that in mind.

My anemones will move up the tank whenever I try to lower my electricity bill. Once I put back higher power light, they go back to the bottom. Hmm, but I thought that you have strong light.

I am trying to point out the possible msissing factor he possibly forgets

What do you mean "he possibly forgets"? Scarf already stated his anemone is moving for more light. He obviously didn't forget :flower:.

Sorry sorry, I did not see that he has stated for "the more light" in his original post.
No problem :grouphug: Just making sure this thread has information for anyone else experiencing a roving BTA.

My RBTA also splitted recently. One was moving around initially but now has settled down at the same spot where the original anemone was. The other one is still roaming around quite a bit for almost a month.

i will move the toad.

i have an anemone crab but he hasn't bothered w/ it. he's hosted many other corals and just perches on rocks filtering the water but i will give it time to find the rbta.

i honestly don't think the rbta will move any more. :crosses fingers:
i just can't seem to understand why the female clown isn't hosting.
