....things were going so well.

Went away for 4 days this weekend, left ac on, came back ac was off:headache: and apt was really hot, tank temp was almost 95 DEGREES??#$%#$% :bigeyes2:
It was a fully stocked 5 gal.
LOST: 3 nice acans, 2 different frogspawns,5 different kinds of mushrooms, including the nice ones from last Chris Kim GB., an avelopora, a candy cane, 4 turbos, many stometalla snails, all xenia, and probally some worms and pods.

Still alive: a percula, hermit, many different zoas look really bad , but arent slimed over, and slightly open, i hope they make it, I have about 8 different types.

I have done initally a 50% change then another 50% today, nitrates after first one was 50 now it is getting better, cyno all over.

I cannot believe how bad things got so fast, or how hot it got. it only has a 20 watt pc. heater is fine, i guess. Before I left I even checked the ac and unplugged it to see it would go back on in a power loss, it did. Maybe a surge or something. My apt gets sun all day, so with the windows closed it gets hot. I see a chiller in my future for my 30 gal upgrade, temp was always fluctuating, ok for lps and softies but not for my planned sps tank. I just regret not taking a recent pic of my tank, nice and full and glorious:flower:

Its all a learning experience, not a bad loss, unless my zoos dont make it, but overall nothing compared to some crashes you guys have had, I considered giving up yesterday, but i cant, i just love it too much. :inlove:

I know you guys can help me build a bigger and better tank again

sorry to hear that. A chiller is a great thing to have in the summer.

I'm glad your not throwing in the tank towel.

Not just nano-the one I have losts is ~40G.

I also lost 2 shrimps(may be 3-the pistol is to small to tell in all those rocks) and a frogspawn to the heat (99F). I lost a cleaner first at 98.7 when I first got back to the club. I already turned off the MH the day before so that only actinic is on. Then, a memeer came, we were chatting when the MH is on. I went out to pick up something for about 2 hours. I come back to the club and the first thing I remember is "Oh my lord the MH is still on" Trying to see if anything goes wrong and I found the perfectly OK fire shrimp before I left is now not moving. This is my loved one too-big, peaceful, and extremely good looking. Every member who came wanted him but I would never yield. So sad. :headache:

Sorry to hear about your crash. The zoos will probably survive, they are pretty hardy.

I suggest you invest in an iceprobe chiller. It only cost $100 and will give you some peice of mind when you are away. It'll chill a tank up to 15G pretty well.

A house sitter is always a good idea, too.

Good luck on your rebuilding effort.

glad to say that at least some zoas are open a little in each of my colonies, so at least even one poloyp from each survives ill be happy. the poloyps that are open are less than half the size of when they were healthy and with very poor color, but i know they will survive.
the other day i thought a turbo survived, but i found that a small hermit too over its shell, funny to see a tiny hermit trying to get around with a huge shell.
I need to get some new snails, amazing to see how much the clean the tank. without them algae growth is crazy.

thanks again everybody for you support
