Lets just say the fish are ugly and they are short lived and they suffer genetic defects...what does any of that have to do with price..
If the fish was cheaper wouldn't it still be ugly and short lived and genetically defected? If anything having them expensive might be a good thing so not too many people buy them. If they were cheaper more folks would buy and bigger chance of having ugly mutated fish out there..

Price is only determined by supply and demand.
So asking why the fish are so expensive despite the conditions stated makes no sense. One has nothing to do with the other.
IF the fish are proven to suffer defects then buyers should just be made aware of it prior to purchase.

Ok so if everyone is making comparisons lets talk about comparisons. People holla about puppy mills and the mistreatment of puppies and parents everywhere including this site. So why is disposing of a healthy fish because there is no profit any different ? And having the one set of parents reproducing one after the other? That's a better comparison then a car or sneakers

As wingo said there are inexperienced breeders out there.
As for healthy fish being thrown out I don't know anyone who does that. If its something proven, please send me a link..would love to educate myself.

Again, I am not disagreeing with the price because I absolutely agree that its overpriced. I am just disagreeing with the reasoning some people are using to explain why the price is high like ugly.

Its high because of the demand and to meet the demand, some inexperienced breeders will without a doubt abuse the situation.

If healthy fish are being thrown out and the fish are proven to have illness then price won't solve it. That's all I am saying..the only way to solve the problem is to educate buyers. Seriously if the above is proven true, then buyers should at least have a place to go to get more info or breeders should include a disclaimer to potential buyers.
