Thanks for the advice guys. Im liking the Reef Octopus model, I forgot the exact name but its rated 100g. Is reef octopus quiet? I've never owned a reef octopus skimmer.
If the money are not a problem there's nothing better than Bubble King.
Whoever own one know what I'm talking about. This skimmer is an art, absolutely amazing, solid precision construction, each element fit perfectly and you don't have to worry that when you gonna press something stronger it gonna brake. Pump is quiet and efficient.
I sold my BK 200 mini and got new ATI product the PowerCone 250 I-series.
Is bigger than BK but much lighter, material they use isn't that thick and solid as BK but doing good job. The impeller they design and patented really do awesome job, pump is quiet and even more efficient than red dragon 1500 installed in BK 200 mini for sure.
It has soft start so no more broken impellers which was issue in first generation...
Big plus is the price, 250 model is rated for tanks over 500 gal. for only $730
honestly i dont like the octo line unless ya go with the recirc models, look at the skimz 181, the atb 840 would be close in height, which i found to be about the best balanced skimmer out, a vertex in100 with a sicce 1000 pump would be killer also and keep ya under $300 complete for a new skimmer, liking the bm line as well, yes they do have a cheaper pump, but ya can buy a spare pump and still save $ , vertex also has a new skimmer the 150 that looks to be killer also, also check with widdy, i know he has a vertex alpha 170 he was maybe looking to sell, thats a killer skimmer
< does not agree bubble king makes the best skimmer, but then again i only owned one and it was gen 2 mini 160, was not impressed for the money, very well built yes, but other skimmers built as well for far less money
reefoman, i got to talk to you on that new ati, i was suppose to be a beta tester long time ago lol but the delay in getting them here killed it
Haha me too but before the first gen of PowerCone come to US they realized that the impeller construction has to be changed or they has to create some kind of soft start to stop tear impellers.
So finally they do changes in both, impellers and soft start
I got this skimmer 3-4 weeks ago so can't say much, as for now I realized is very sensitive maybe because is new? I don't know. The foam amount this pump producing is unbelievable the drain is fully open and I can't run it at 100% (yet?)
Swing by so you can see it in action
