Chief, the operative words in your post are "as soon as I am able to". Invariably you're able to AFTER the blackout occurs. For instance, the prediction is for lots of thunderstorms over the next few days. Have you had the time yet? I agree, a better 'system' is needed than the Hurricane pump. However, it is a no brainer for ease of setup.

Russ I have 2 ups's on my tank now. no problem just want to upgrade 1 for my skimmer and cannister filter so it can run for a Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time :)

Nope now I just wish I could get a house and install a guardian generator to power the whole house so I have NO worries if the power goes out.
