Rinsing live sand?

I have herd people say to rinse live sand and others say not to. I am about to start up my BC 29 and I am not planing to rinse the sand. Is this a mistake? If so why?

You don't have to. It'll just have more detritus and take longer to clear up. I never rinse mine.

I would just run some poly pad to catch the detritus and switch it out as it gets dirty. I always had tanks that had filter socks which caught all the "dust".

You will want to test before you add anything.
It could trigger a cycle.

Thanks not planing to put anything in the tank till I am sure it is cycled. Planing on doing daily test for a while.

I've rinsed sand then cycled my tank and have had no problems and my sand has looked clean and awesome with no problems at all.
