I tried defrosting the cubes in tank water for a long time, but it still remains in cube form and hardened. Is this normal or should I heat it up somehow to break it down? Should I just throw it in as a cube?

Defrost it in a small container covered container. And depending on the size of your fish you can either just throw the cube in or break it into smaller pieces.

When it's defrosted it should still be in cube shape and feel rubbery. If it's defrosted and feels very hard then you probably left it out to long and its dried out some what.

squish it w/ ur finges and it will break up. I personally dont like those cubes, switch so brine and mysis as suggested above, much easier to defrost and serve to ur fish. I also find that fish love blood worms and some pellets

I use these cubes all the time. After you let it defrost for a little while, I place it on a cutting board and squash it with the side of a knife. Then I chop at it a little bit. Yes, it is a little more work than most foods, but I still give it to my tangs at least twice a day.
Tangs are kind of specific in their diets. If certain tangs lack certain algea in their diet, they will slowly become malnourished and decline. (the naso tang for example, does best when it has brown algea in its diet)These cubes cover a large portion of marine plants. Adding to that nori, spirulina flakes and home grown macro algea will help out a lot with keeping tangs healthy. Tangs do not eat much meaty food in the wild. While you can and people do keep tangs for long periods of time feeding only meaty foods, they tend to do better, live out more of their life span and act more naturally when fed various types of algea.

I use the marine cuisine and the live dts phyto for the corals.
With the marine cuisine I pop one out and chop it in half with a razor blade.Everything seems to like the Marine Cuisine fishes a few corals.
