Here I go again with more questions!!! This time about "MH ballast"

So I have a deal going on, for an even trade. My PC's for his MH set-up.
The ballast he is including is a Blue Wave II dual MH 250.
Any good?

I know electronic ballast are better.
Are there any dis-advantages getting this unit.

He is including everything but the bulbs will have to be replaced.

What ya guys think about the brand?

Great ballast, one of the best around. I have it and highly recommend it!

In this guys case electronic ballasts are not better. Sanjay did tests on it and found it to outperform them. LMK if you want the links (slow search on my part), or maybe Dean (MR's official link provider, much faster results ) has it available.

I'm trying to close out this deal, which seems like a good one sinced this is a 2 x 250. Just wanted to find out more about this ballast.
Trading my PC hood for his set-up, which is including the the ballast w/ timer, reflectors, sockets & wiring. The bulbs are included but are old.
Can't beat that.

If for some reason it doesn't go through, I'll take yours.
Which one is this? The one in your 92?
Reflector included?
Timer included.....?

complete retro kit, no timer, sorry - I had to use all those on the new tank (plus 2 newer ones).

The blue wave is hot, if that goes through, go for it. I just bought a new HQI pendant with a Pheonix bulb for over the frag tank, that is why I am selling the one in the 92, yes it is that one, but better bulb than the last time you were there. The AB bulb is about 30% more than the hamiltons.

Anyhow, I'll sell this no problem, but thought I'd run it by you - I know you were looking.

the only reason why magnetic has higher performance with sanjay's test is look at the amperage, it is way higher then electronic, icecap will give 111PPFD and magnetic will go way higher but 2.3amp for electronic and 3-4 for magnetic. magnetic overdrives a bulbs quite a bit therefore you will have to change the bulb more often, they are great ballast, just i am picky about electric usage, shaun you know that
