sup dude? i'm currently using the regular mini's and they are awsome! you really cant beat it with the amount of light coverage it puts off. they have since come out with the vented version and now the de ones. i'm considering it, but don't want to drop another $400+ on new bulbs and reflectors... i'm also wondering if the de version comes with the uv glass, if not that would be another cost.
was doing Reeflux 10k's for a while, but didn't like how the corals looked washed out under them. also, the SE bulbs were still too pink for my taste. some complained about them, but others didn't see the pink. must be partially ballast related.
after seeing some tanks, i'm doing phoenix 14k's now. only been running a couple of weeks so far, so my feedback doesn't mean much till they burn in. so far i'm liking them. some of the corals look more saturated in color - at least the things that aren't browned out.
oh and yes, i'm running two 96w URI VHO super actinics.
so what has the latest spin on the 'Wheel o' MH bulbs' put in your canopy?

lol!!! i just swapped out almost my entire lighting system... i have the following:
2 x diamond lumenarc mini's
2 x 250w xm 10k's
2 x uri t5 atinic
1 x icecap dynamic t5 ballast
this has been my best and favorite color combo so far. there is finally a t5 bulb that can compare with uri atinics! the xm's and uri t5's pair up perfectly imo with a great amount of par. so for now this is the flavor of the month!

How come you didn't over drive your UVL T5s with the IC 660 that you are selling?
On the average, Andy from IC states about 30% brighter with a 660 vs a standard T5 ballast.

Steve had mentioned to me that he did try his IC 660 ballast to overdrive the T5s but in his opinion, the bulbs just ran hotter and he didn't see much of a difference.
But as Pierce stated that if they are runner hotter, most likely that they are running brighter.
Here's what Andy from IC stated:
T5HO lamps over-driven on an IceCap VHO ballast also run at a higher frequency (no flicker), produce light more evenly over the length of the lamp and should avoid the blackening effect on the lamp ends common with conventional ballasts.
The IC option also complies with the needed shut down of power to a dead bulb required of any T5HO ballast.

Not exactly doubling the watts.
With the two different ballast (IC 430 / IC 660), they produce different results.

I think is hard for a human eye to determine 20% greater brightness, I get dizzy after looking directly at my lights:eek1:, You guys can use my PAR meter if you want to do a more scientific test.
