What size setup?
If small I could see it, but one fish or pair would be nice and shouldn't be too much extra to maintain
Its your tank, give it a shot. Easy to correct that issue if desire changes

My first personal system was fish free!!!
I did like it. No fish to mess up my sand, add extra waste and I only fed my corals 2 times a week so extra equipment to clean the water was unnecessary!!!

This was a 60 gallon tank.

Now I have a system with 13 fish. I do like watching them, having them nibble on my fingers, etc but now I have to glue frags, and reposition the sand every morning because my clowns like to make craters that end up covering their anemone!!

sigh

and also...now I spend money on fish food...4 diff kinds to keep them happy and healthy

Corals are beautiful. But I truly feel the real fun of the hobby is the fish. Maybe it's just me but I look at corals more as the decoration but the point of the tank is the fish... I'd rather have fish over corals.

I guess that is what is so great about this hobby....the diversity.
I could care less about my fish but if something is going to effect my coral look out lol.
I enjoy the growth and colors of my sps ;)

Too each his own ;)

I guess if I was ever to go fish less I think I would at least have decorative shrimp or something like that maybe a mantis lol

I have NO fish now because all of mine died due to disease. My filter sock still gets as dirty as it did when I had tons of fish and my skimmer still works as hard. There is a lot more "life" in a reef tank that produces waste. Every polyp of every coral in your tank produces waste, so do the worms and other inverts.

Just because you have no fish doesn't mean that there is less maintenance.

I guess one could look at coral collections similar to the pride a gardener has in his award winning roses.. Lol which in this hobby definitely becomes an obsession that most just don't understand (wife). But I really think nothing beats the total package, a tank that resembles a natural coral reef or better.
