I'm having some typical problems with hair and "film" algae in my 26gal bowfront reef..only thing is I use RODI water for top off and water changes, nitrates are at 0 and phosphates are close to 0. 3 fish in the tank, a clown, bangaii cardinal and an ORA spotted mandarin, feeding NLS pellets, hardly any ever hit the sand bed. Using Red Sea test kits. GFO in a BRS reactor, gets changed every 3 weeks..
Lighting is 8 hours of 150w 14k halide and one hour of 28w actinic T5s before lights out.
Every morning I have to clean the glass from the film that has spread overnight, and I'm seeing more and more hair on the rocks. Is this just a normal thing for new reefs?(3 months) or is there something I'm missing?
