Anyone have experience doing battle with this type of algae??

I've got 0 nitrates and 0 detectable phosphates according to salifert. The stuff is deeply rooted on the rocks and has begun creeping on my starboard. I pull what I can when I siphon, but the roots really hold on tight to the rocks.

here's a closeup of it next to my candycanes.

i've got a kole tang, but he doesn't seem to like it. i was about to pickup some mexican turbos till a guy on RC claimed that they may not be effective against this particular type of red turf (brittle vs wiry). i've got the wiry type.

thanks for the links deanos. i'll check'em out.

I think geforce also has the problem. Mshur had battled this problem awhile back. He told me only the mexican turbos and the tux urchin will eat it. But u will need enough to take care of it. pm mshur, i may not remember all the details.

and here i was thinking i was all alone. someone on another website recommended Siganus Rabbitfish and Diadema urchins. unfortunately, those diadema's get pretty big and would quickly outgrow my tank. don't want to chance the rabbitfish either with my clams.

really hoping it will be as simple as mexican turbos. i'll pm mshur to see if it's the same strain. he even participated in the RC link that deanos posted. not done reading it, but i'll finish it tomorrow at work.
