Happens on my 450 all the time! They just get hairline cracks on the inside piece and leak. One time on my led drivers and started a huge electrical fire I'm lucky it didn't burn down my house. What I have done with the latest set of bulkheads I installed was hand tightened them and then a 1/4 turn with a wrench and so far so good.

Interesting, I was planning on upgrading but did not want a reef ready tank for this very reason. I have been using the CPR overflow for years. Gives me a better piece of mind. I was going to get the 300 deep dimension, but not sure if the tank if available without being predrilled. Glad you fixed your problem. Water links stink, especially salt water.

Anytime you take water out of the tank/sump by pump or by syphon, there is potential for a leak. Bulkheads can loosen/crack and leak. Either way, regular maintenance/cleaning and making sure ALL fittings/hose clamps etc. are tight will lessen the possibility for leaking and flooding. GL.
P.S.- most RR tanks are much quieter than overflow boxes. I myself, could do without the gurgle.

Seriously, I guess having a reef tank running for 12 years with an overflow with no problem helps. I realize overflow can have issues, and yes, my pump that keeps the suction crapped out on me a few times. But like everything else in life, it is all about preferences. Like buying yellow cars....

How many tanks do you have?

No gloves off. It is a matter of taste. I know CPR overflows could be an issue, but I like that you can see everything, and there are less parts to fail. I plan on buying a 300 gallon deep dimension tank soon, and it looks like I have no choice but to join the reef ready crowd. I am sure once I do, I would be wondering why I ever used an overflow. But I have been doing this so long that I remember when undergravel filters where king, and I was so excited to keep glass anemones alive!!!
