Hey Wins, why do you want your skimmer to turn on and off? Also who's your internet provider? When I set up your brother's I had a really hard time setting up remote access.

This guide will help you with everything you want to do and more. It is not hard at all, just requires a little reading. Good luck, awesome gift.

Wow I'm suprised they finally made that the official manual because that thing was much better than the one written by Neptune.

I'm useing the clear Internet it's pretty good and the heater turns off on its own if it gets warmer then 78 degrees but we can do that to I want the skimmer off so when I feed the coral I read that it's good to turn it off so it doesn't take out there food right away how about my mp40 should I plug that in also

Also google the unofficial apex user guide. It is much better than the apex user manual

The unofficial guide is now the official guide lol

@wins, you should probably plug in the heater regardless of the thermostat already built in the heater simply because the apex will give you better control on it. Also, I get what you are saying about the skimmer but you don't have to do a timer program for that, you can do what's called a Feed which means that when you select it, it will temporarily change certain states of specific outlets for whatever length of time you chose.

The Solution does NOT come with the probe. To feed you want to set up a feed cycle. For example on my personal tank.

When I activate the FeedA, it turns everything off, Main Pump, MP40, Skimmer except the heaters. Then it is timed for 35 minutes I think. At that time the Main pump turns back on, then about a minute later the mp40 turns on, then a couple minutes later the skimmer turns back on.

What you want to actually program on and off are things like your heaters, dosing pumps, lights. I have AI Sol so I just use the controller with it to control them since they never turn off.

As asked earlier what is your Internet Provider? Most are pretty easy. But I have to say that FIOS is the easiest with their newer routers.

If you plan on accessing from the outside, goto www.no-ip.org and sign up for a free account for a host so that you never have to know what your actual IP address is.

Wins, plugging in your heater to your Apex is the smartest thing you can do with your controller. The heater has its own built in thermostat but those fail all the time, the Apex will be a redundancy to save your tank.... it would be horrible to have an Apex and not have your heater plugged into it and lose your tank due to heater malfunction.... why even have a controller in that case?
