Something is wrong with my anemone. I have had em for over a year. Since I upgraded and today I found him not attached to my sandbed anymore and looks like this! Is he dying?

If he dies will he nuke my tank??

Did you change anything. Did you go from a shorter tank to higher one. Did you change sand types.

Its def stressed. I would try to see if you can dig a small area near where the rock and sand meet and place him there and see if he grabs one.

Sebeas prefer to have their foot wedged under a rock in the sand.

I did a water change yesterday. Thats it. He was in the same spot for months hosting my clowns. Everything else in the tank seems fine. Sps has full pe. Frogspawn torch all open.

Water chemistry is all normal

How long ago did you do the upgrade. Is it tan or white?

IME especially with sebeas they are very temperamental. The ballooning of the foot is its way of relocating, kinda like a sail

That goes for most anemones.

Damn guy went into a cave and in my rock work. No way to get to him.

And he doesn't look any better. Doesn't look like he's attached his feet under a rock or anything

The fact that he went under a rock means he is looking for a new place to be comfortable. Give him a little time to adjust. He just might find a good place under there to attach his foot.
You can keep your eye on him with a flashlight after lights out (but don't annoy him with it - just a quick peek!). I'd leave him be unless he definitely looks like he is turning to mush..not just unattached. If he looks dead for sure, you can suck him out with a turkey baster.

All is not lost yet!

My anem is done. It hasn't attached to anything and it's face down in the sand.

The bad thing is I have no way to get to it unless I undo my whole rock work. I don't know what to do now about the toxins other than massive water changes
