Orange County, NY from my well is about 105 ppm. After RO/DI I get zero.

NYC water is so great because it comes from the reservoirs upstate NY. The aquaducts run for hundreds of miles bringing Adirondack & Catskill water to NYC.

These reservoirs are now highly protected areas. After 9/11 they were (and still are) very sensitive terrorist targets.

just found out that our water is well water therefore contains more minerals. our water is very hard as i see calcium buildups from my faucet. if i get a water softener, my sodium will increase. i think i should just put up my house for sale and move to an area that services surface water so i can continue my hobby and have healthy fishies and corals. do you have any solution?

Almost all well water in the northeast is hard water. My well water is labeled as hard water too. My RO/DI gets my water to acceptable levels. I've never really heard of anyone moving because they have hard water. Only time I've ever heard of anyone moving because of water was Love Canal .
