How to get rid of hair alge

If I'm not mistaken I'm getting hair algae on my rocks how do I get rid of it what causes it????

Manually remove them and lower your PO4.

High nutrients and high phosphates will fuel its growth. You can try snails a good clean up crew. Also isnt this a newer tank?

What are your levels especially phosphate.
What kind if skimmer are you running
What lighting are you running and how long r they on a day
How much and what are you feeding
What does your livestock consist of

Just a few questions to narrow down for a better answer to resolve your algae issue

Tagging along.. Not an expert but I had a lot of hair algae on my nano tank... Tried boiling the rock but it still came back.. My LFS recommended bumble bee snails and scarlet hermit crabs... I got 5 of each and it's been a week or two and about 70% of the algae is gone... I hope they keep up the good work...

tank is about 3 weeks running but i transfered everything from my 75 gallon idk my phospahte levels but my nitrate and amonia is on 0 i have coral i only have 5 cromis a mandarin and a clown i jus added more fish today i think maybe its my lights they might be 2 strong i have 4 t5 bulbs and 2 250w mh lights on iy i run the mh lights from 430pm to 1130 pm then i leave the moonlights on do u think maybe its a minnie cycle

you might have been right on regards to the mini cycle, but it sounds like the ro had also played a role. If you are able to, get/borrow a hanna checker to test phosphate levels. There is a good chance that when you moved the sand, the trapped waste was pushed further up causing the phosphate to leach from the sand and into the water.

Can we find out more about the type of equipment you are using, ie protein skimmer, any reactors that are being used, size of tank, and the brand/ expiration dates of testing kits you are using.

forgot to mention, i'm pretty sure the meter on your rodi is a pressure gauge. Hopefully, someone corrects me if I'm wrong.

Most likely a mini cycle. In my experience, I have found that API wasn't the most accurate test kits for salt water, although I do like using them for my fresh water tanks due to the ease of use. Are there any LFS stores near you that will be able to test your water for you with another type of test kit? Might be a good idea to get a reference point on your current kits.
