Swc cone skimmer issue

i have an SWC 180 Cone Skimmer on my tank that's about 4-5 months old. The skimmer was working great but just started spitting out a lot of micro bubbles out. looks like bubbles are making its way down the cone section of the skimmer and into the bottom where the output and pump are. anyone here have this issue? ive tried googling it but havent found anything.

nope. nothing new. just B-Ionic as usual..

Maybe try giving the skimmer a vinegar bath and a good rinse?

Do you run filter socks?

yeah.. i'll give that a shot next weekend..

and yes i do run filter socks in my sump

I know on mine, new socks or improperly rinsed ones will cause the bubble issue with the skimmer.

interesting.. and what is the proper way to rinse a filter sock?

Everyone has their own way.

I now wash mine in the washing machine. Bleach only with an extra rinse cycle. Then let them air dry.

The new Clorox splashless bleach is no good. Causes the bubbling. I use regular bleach.

You could pull the sock out for now and wait a day or so to see if the bubbles stop.

hmmmm.. that might be the issue. i wash mine the same way.. but no extra rinse cycle.. thanks for the advice..
