No Name Return Pump

The return pump I've been using for the past year works great. Its a pond pump - no name. When I power down for maintenance, then power up when I'm done, every once and a while, it won't power back up. Seems like letting it sit unplugged gets it going again. Any ideas on possible causes? Anyone ever experience the same?

Are you sure it's salt water safe?

probably a dead spot in the armature of motor. usually tap it or rotate it a little. you know like when you had a bad starter motor and you banged on it.

To tell the truth... Don't know. It is a sealed unit. From what I see, all parts I can see are plastic/poly.

Had the same problem with a Triton 4.

Problem solved. Swapped it out for a Mag7.
