Swc 180 skimmer

Hey what's up guys , I wanted some thoughts I have a 75g mixed reef system with I believe to be a 20g sump it's custom built with 4 Chambers got it from a friend few years bck so I forgot the volume it holds anyway I'm running a aquac ev180 with a mag 9.5 and my skimmer is a monster it pulls so much gunk out of my system the only problem is , the pump is not connected to the skimmer and its takes up a lot of space Nd my mind changed and now I want a skimmer like my old one I had a vertex witch has the pump connected to the skimmer I was looking at the swc 180 herd a lot of good things about it what do u guys think ?

i have the swc 160 and its a great skimmer. i believe the swc 180 may be larger than what you need. I ran the swc 160 on a 65 with 30 gallon sump and it performed well.
and also the 180 has a sicce psk2500 pump. I never liked that pump always too many issues with it

Well I was looking at the 180 because I don't like running systems without skimmers rated for double to triple my tank size for the simple fact if anything goes wrong for whatever reason The larger skimmer will give me some play room before things really go south , thanks for the advice do you know what kind of issues the pumps on the swc 180 have ?

I originally had it on my 155 gallon reef ready bow front and it handled that tank with no problem. And I had a pretty heavy bioload. Now I plan on using it on my new 120 gallon tech tank

Nice , my system is not a 150 so if it handled that with a heavy bioload it just deff Handel mine then I'm just nervous for the fact that its not going do as good as my ev180 and I'm going pissed lol

True and mine skimmers only rated for 180g so it should do better , thanks for the advice I think I'm going go with it

The sicce psk 2500 pump is a well known pump and has been used in many skimmers. However a quick google search of "problems with sicce psk 2500" would get you alot of information on that pump. I have had them in the past with my ATI bubblemaster skimmer. The pump would never restart if the power has been turned off for feeding or cleaning skimmer,I would have to blow air into the venturi. It became very annoying. There are so many people who had problems with that pump and usually the only way to overcome it is to replace it with another pump.

I would recommend you look at the reef octopus line. I dont own one but my brother does and it is doing really well in his 120 gallon tank. The pumps themselves have a 3 year warranty.

And there is also that issue of the owner of SWC being convicted of smuggling.(if you care about that sort of stuff)

Swc also steals other companies ideas and patented designs (where do you think his skimmer designs come from?!?!), in addition to illegally smuggling livestock out of other countries. He is a real scumbag!!!
I will never buy anything from him as he is bad for the hobby, and even worse...THE PLANET!!!!

Wow I can't believe that , yes he's skimmers look a lot like the octopus and vertex skimmers , I can't believe this guy is doing some dirty **** like that, goes to show you what money leads people to do unbelievable
