Looking into my 150 tall upgrade that's going to take a while to get going due to funds and taking my time to plan out my new awesome equipment room.

This is my first of many posted questions to help me along the way.

I'm trying to get as much done with what I have, so are closed loop systems worth the risk of drilling additional holes in the tank? I welcome any conversation regarding CL systems on this thread as well.

ALSO, can the Deep Blue 48x24x30tall dual over flow be drilled on the bottom? I'm assuming it can because they put holes on the bottom for the overflows from factory.

Worth it if you aren't planning on using any powerheads for additional flow. You can hide them under rockwork and it keeps the lower part of the tank which probably gets less flow and really gets circulation all around.

I would not go with closed loop. It was a good option when there weren't effective powerheads. It is not the same anymore. The return pump will cost more to run than the powerheads that will move more water.
