I have a Red Sea Max 130D that I just set up. I began to get film build-up on the water surface so I added another powerhead. Today none of my frogspawns opened.. All my other corals are fine and open. Would the increased flow cause them to stay closed?
For the film try lowering the water level to where the water drops a bit into the surface skimmer cup. Any noticeable change could cause your corals stress and have them not open.
Are the frogspawns in direct path of the flow from the power head? That would cause them to not open as fully as they should. Like piranhapat said, anything could be the culprit. But most likely is that they are suddenly getting to much direct flow.
Ok cool I was hoping it was that..I removed the powerhead... The tank came without the surface skimmer but today i made a temporary one out of a container of butter until i find something better. I don't want the dye to leech into the tank.
they're in 3 different spots in the tank.. the flow wasn't direct, i had it pointed directly at one of the built in return. I checked all my parameters so I doubt it's that. Lights are out now so i'll know tomorrow if it was the powerhead or not.
