monti ring of death

I thought this was interesting. I glued some frags to the overflow and this encrusting montipora is making sure nothing gets in it's way of expanding.

hey J i have the same thing growing on one of my rocks that is out of the way of all my other corals... i didnt no what it was until ive seen ur pic.. its pretty tiny prob. the size of a pencil eraser right now with polyps

yes, it's not always so perfect as this.
1/4" around the monti, poor coraline algae.
it looks kind of funny also. like a big spot on the overflow.
