Experience with Abalone?

Anyone on MR ever have an abalone in their tanks? I've always thought their shells were beautiful and would love to get one or two for our tank. Any advice?

I had them before, good algae eaters. They do knock stuff over more than snails, make sure your frags are glue down good.

Good eating too if you can get enough.

speaking of eating them here are some recipes.

how easy are they to breed, you could have an abalone tank filter and raw bar in one.

so are you saying that if i add two to our tank that they will breed and knock sh*t over? that is not a really good salespitch i will run it by the boss, i'd like to get one (read: as a pet, not to eat!)

yes but the recipe with lemon juice does sound good

I think they are fairly slow grower. I had them many ways but black bean sauce is the best
