So I hope to be upgrading from a 40gal to a 72 bow. The question I have is how should I go about doing this?

Here is what I am facing:

1. I don't have a place to set up the other tank and let it cycle.

2. My current tank is fully stocked.

So do I just get new sand and set it up and treat it as a very big water change?

Please Help

Are you planning putting new tank where the 40 gallon is. First the most important is location of tank. Than we work from there. You need to tell us what fully stock means. 40 gallon isn't that big to break down. You would want to use all that water. Because you need to make about 30 gallons. If you got live rock you can put them in plastic containers or couple buckets you can get. You can put water from your old tank too. If you have sand in 40 you can clean it or replace it . Is your skimmer going to handle 72 bow. Are you running sump. How many watts is your heater. This can be set up pretty quickly.
