i have 3 different test kits for alk, cal and mag. 2 red sea, 1 salifert. i get consistent readings with each kit, but fluctuates between kits. 1st red sea alk 8.4, cal 400, mag 1400. 2nd red sea alk 9.1, cal 420, mag 1500. salifert alk 10.9, cal 420, mag 1260. don't know which one to trust.
If you get consistent readings with each individual kit, I would pick one and stick with it. Its not so much the numbers. You want to keep them stable.
I like my Salifert kits Ed. And, as everyone else has said, you've got some wiggle room. Consistency is more important than keep levels at a certain point.
Same with me, I use elos Red Sea and salifert and a couple of the Hanna checkers for phosphate and alk the calcium checker is useless...I always get diff # between them. I usually take the average and use that
the salifert is the only one dated 7/2014. i will just stick with one and keep it consistent, like most recommended. thanks for the help. hey mike are you in or out your all over the place. hope your in.
I'm still in the game. I sold off most of my corals and am going to focus on fish since they are much easier and forgiving when it comes time to relocate. I'm going to update my build thread later tonight, actually.
