I have had my bow front tank up and running for 2 yrs now and just noticed that the person who had it before me cut the plastic beam in the middle out of the tank seen it today when was doing a water change cut very clean so never really saw it is it ok like that

Someone told me it is for the hood and lights is it for support also

take a pic. If its what i think it is its for support. Me personally i wouldnt be able to sleep at night but thats just me lol

If it's the center bracing... I would not consider that a safe tank at all. Bowfront tanks do tend to bulge in the center putting the silicone on the front glass under even more pressure.

A new brace should be pretty cheap. Getting the old one off is gonna be a pain.
