Ok the light in my apartment keeps going out which of course is affecting my aquariums. We keep changing the fuses and they keep burning out when we use the a/c. Now here is the info that i got from my roomate, apparently the building is very old so we need to have our electricity converted into a 220W, but that's not all, because its so old the apartment may have to be rewired which shouldn't be that bad because we don't have many outlets anyway. So if anyone knows a good electrician or is one and would like to come check out my problem please let me know. I'm willing to pay for the service if reasonable as well as supply choice of beer.

I really dont know the exact problem, but basically we got a new a/c 8,000 btu and that's when the power started to go out, i have a 5,000 btu in my room but when the 8,000 is on i leave mine off, the 8,000 will run good with no problem but then in the middle of the night or early in the morning it will burn the fuses. If you have an idea on what the problem is how much would this costs.

six family thats even more the service has to be larger ,if the service was large enough con ed might let you install a separate meter for yourself (might)can you take a pic of the service in the basement

Are you sure both ACs aren't running off of only one of the fuses?

If they are, check which outlets run to which fuse and plug the ACs into outlets that are on separate fuses.

This may solve your problem.

The a/c's are on opposite sides of the apartment, the system is very old, the owner before the new one started to install new service and the guy on the first floor has the box with the switches, we still have the fuses, one lady on the 3rd floor has a separate box and fuse that says a/c.

i think one of our main problems is also that we do not have that many outlets, 2 in the kitchen, 1 in my room, 1 in the living room, everything else is powered through extension cords.
