Anyone ever buy glass from this company?

I found them online and requested a quote which was not so bad..

I'm looking to make a 36" x 12.5" x 16" tank using Starphire glass and there quote came to $250.

Anyone knows a better place? Is this a good price? I based my opinion on the fact that a tank about this same size is $399 from Innovative Marine..

I don't know where you saw that but on their site they have a 36 x 12 1/2 x 17 for 79 bucks regular glass. The rimless with thick glass (probably 1/2") is 170 but you really don't need glass that thick on such a small tank. I would say call them and get a quote for 1/4" or 3/8" and see what they say.

Yeah rimless...
$180 for 30gal tall and 40gal long..

I really want starphire glass, the clarity is much better... I actually want to make this entire build DIY: Tank, Led Light, & Live Rock...

I also think I'm about to change the dimensions to 36x16x16. Just shy of 40gals. Do you think 1/4" would be thick enough? Or should I go for 3/8"??

Honestly I think calling them would be your best bet. I'm sure they can work with you. 3/8" is obviously sturdier but also more expensive. For a small tank it shouldn't be too heavy and it will be fine as far as sturdiness and the lighter it is the easier it will be to move so less risk of not being able to carry it and damaging it. I helped them carry a bunch of tanks at a show and eventhough they were not big tanks the ones w/ 1/2" glass were heavy as hell and definitely overkill in my opinion. I think the thick glass is more for show.

Glass gages has some really bad reviews.
Up to you what you decide, I would read some of the posts in MR about them first.
I like the DIY approach but with the structural integrity of a water filled cube you may want to differ to experience.

I did a tall nano tank a while back that I was planing to us for seahorses. Ended up never using the tank, but it still holds water with no leaks and more importantly it did not fall apart.. Lol. It's rimless.

I used a bunch of online calculators and they all say 1/4" should be good, but all recommend using the next size up for assurance. So I'm going to go with the 3/8".

Just got a quote for the new dimensions and thickness. $394.82..
Thicker is more expensive but I guess it is better to fork over the money now and not wait till something happens with the 1/4".
