Zoas black stuff

There is some encrusting black stuff growing on my paly colony I just bought. Colony is decent sized and polyps are HUGE and larger than a quarter if not that size. Its matting and noticed some polyps on edges have been covered. Anyone know what it could be?

Ew! Hideous black thing... It covers a polyp too and has grown over a couple

Definitely a sponge..one of the invasive types.
You need to cut as much as possible off the frag. Might also be a good idea to frag the frag if any portion of it has no sponge growing on it, just in case you can't get it under control and have to sacrifice part of the frag

Is their anyway I can kill it. I just bought the frag... like how bout peroxide dip or something?

I'd keep a clean portion of it first and then try and dip the infested part if you want to go that route.
