ATO, ppm storage container ?

I have a new SpectraPure MaxCap and it works great puts out 0 ppm.
I also have a 7gal food grade container that I keep full at all times.

Every time I walk into my fish room I check it and start my RO unit to top it off sometimes a gallon sometimes more, point is I like to top it off to keep it full when I can.

I checked my ppm in my container with a hand held HM digital Tds-3 meter and it was 119ppm

I double checked what was coming directly out of my RO unit and meter said 0.

Could my container be leaking something? (Container sais food grade rite on it)
or could it be me never letting my storage container use up all the available top off water?
Am I tainting the water some how.

Currently I drained the container,cleaned it with vinegar and water and re filling.

Thoughts ?

do you ever get saltwater mix/etc into it?

I know I had that problem with mine. I didn't keep it purely RODI water, and added saltmix to it ONCE. I didn't think anything of it though.

Not just mixing up salt water in there, but also...my hand being in there too!

Once I noticed that the inside was slick...I was like "ugh, what the!" After that I had to run hot baths, and scrub.

but yea...uh ppm was higher than that, while still reading 0 from my unit.

I've had similar things happen to my water storage tank before too. Not 112 ppm but higher than zero. It just builds up after a while and needs cleaning.

One thing I noticed... When you first turn on the RO/DI, you're supposed to let the water run for a few minutes and discard that water because of TDS creep.

Also, the container could be leaking something. One container I was using to store RO/DI water was leaching phosphates.

Thanks for the input guys, I do dip into it a few times a week to get a cup of RO out to rinse off my blender mush when I feed?

Thanks guys! The tank has never been used except for RODI & my spectra pure has a auto flush on it everytime it starts up and once every hour it is running still getting 000ppm out of unit.

My storage tank seems to be leaking something ?
Check water with hand held digital ppm meter:
Day 1, 000ppm
Day 2, 003ppm
Day 3, 008ppm

Time to research and find new top off container any suggestions? What do you guys use?

i think a small fish tank would be a good.

Sounds like you found the reason for the TDS issues.

I use a ten gallon tank for my ATO reservoir. Custom King will make you one out of acrylic too. He does great work.

Kind of. There's a shelf above it. You can buy a piece of acrylic and cover it cheap if you want.

I had the same problem with my brute container. I use a 30gal glass now.
