Things I don't believe in
1 Garlic will cure anything. (but I like it on linguini and clams)
2 cleaner shrimp or fish, will help in the slightest with curing ich. (but they are interesting)
3 Corals including SPS can't live with high nitrates (mine are 40)
4 Feeding flake food is adaquate. (I do feed it to my worms and they love it)
5 DSBs (nope, not at all, don't get me started)
6 ASW is just as good as NSW (it is just as good if that is what you can get, But it is fake water)
7 HLLE is caused by carbon, electricity, stress, Nancy Pelosy (well maybe her, I can't be sure)
8 Kalk is needed (i actually hate the stuff)
9 We need a refractometer (never had one, never will)
10 Hyposalinity is better than copper. (if it were not for copper, there would be no fish hobby)
11 Keeping a Moorish Idol for 5 years is a success (reaLLY! People believe that?
12 Keeping any fish, except a seahorse for 10 years is a success (not even close)
13 I can grow hair, I just don't want to. :eek:rangehat
14 Everyone will agree with me on all these things, yeah right

I agree with you on everything 100% except for the refractometer. Not everyone has been in the hobby for 40 years and can accurately guess the salinity of the water by simply listening to it. :lol2:

Also, I'm not sure about copper vrs. hypo and I've never experienced HLLE personally. I can't remember trying hypo salinity to cure Ich.

I rub it on my bald head.

Never be sure, keep guessing, it's good for the mind (and hair)

Whew! I thought Santa Clause was gonna be on that list. Close one.

Whats the matter with him?

I never heard anyone say that you cant grow SPS with high nitrates but you wont get the color that Nitrates below .05 will give you. If you can show me close up pictures of your acros with full color i will slap everyone that fed me this information :) Also I have seen my cleaner wrasse and cleaner shrimp first hand go to town on a ich ridden yellow tang and the next day the ich was gone and never saw a hint of it again. I for one dont believe in QT new fish :) as for everything else i agree with you. My refractometer is just easier for me ;)

Dam, I really want to see you slap everybody but my corals don't seem that colorful. I do SCUBA dive a lot and they look like they do in the sea, but maybe I am color blind so I guess I won't see you slap anyone.

Also I have seen my cleaner wrasse and cleaner shrimp first hand go to town on a ich ridden yellow tang and the next day the ich was gone and never saw a hint of it again.

I also once put a 1/2" snail in my 100 gallon reef and in a few days all the hair algae was gone, so I guess the snail ate it, I also watched a re run of American Idol and my firefish jumped out, so now I know, bad music causes fish to jump. My moorish Idol loved bananas, so now I know what they eat in the sea, I started my tank with water from the East River right after it passes Manhattan and after 42 years it is still running so I can definately say that East River water is the key. Some of my rocks are asphalt, but I can't think of anything to say about that. I added some cleaner shrimp in 1978 and since then, I also never saw ich, so it must be true. But Duke old buddy, I am just messing with you and that is also the reason I added #14 :smokin:

PS I don't quarantine either but whenever I mention that, I get hate mail, so don't tell anyone. :wink1:

Dam, your right, they don't look colorful.

Yeah when i mention I dont QT i get blasted to but havent lost a fish to ich in 5 years. And when i did lose a fish to ich it was because i QTed it when i first got in the hobby. And its pretty much acros that wont color up with high nitrates and some montis and maybe certain birdsnests. As for the cleaner wrasse and shrimp whenever i put a new fish in they go to town on them. The yellow tang was just very noticeable with spots all over its body. If it wasnt the wrasse and fire shrimp I must have some serious ich cleaning water :) LOL

My fireclown is 19 and still spawning, but I never let him know he wasn't quarantined. He always thought, and still thinks that my reef is a big quarantine tank. :eek:rangehat I used to quarantine in 1979 or so, then I learned the secret. But it is a secret and even though I wrote many articles on it, it is still a secret so don't ask. :lovestory

And, yes, I will get hate mail, but that is why I put in #14

btw they changed the law to require helicopters to fly farther of the shore here on the north fork. since then I have been having a cyano problem. is it safe to assume helicopters prevent cyano?

Question. What do you think about Blackworms and parasites.
Not much, I have been feeding blackworms since about 1962 or so, Haven't seen any paracites yet. Maybe they hide good. If they do have paracites, they would be freshwater paracites, and freshwater paracites really hate salt water.

Paul, what are your thoughts on the economy?...Global Warming?...the price of rice in China?
Your computer screen isn't big enough to even get started.

It isn't my first choice as the "experts" will send me hate mail because many of them have to quarantine. I wrote more on that than Hemmingway wrote about, whatever Hemmingway writes about.

Yes it is, and remember that plane that crashed in the Long Island Sound about 25 years ago from laguardia? Right after that, the lobsters disapeared, proving that those airline meals are poisonous to shellfish.

A little helocopter fuel in your skimmer once a week will prevent cyano, and fish.
