I will be moving my newly purchased 75gal set up from queens to Brooklyn in few weeks. Totally freaked out as Im terrified everything will die (corals and fish). What will I need to do to ensure the livestock survives this move and what can I prepare ahead of time in case of emergency?

If someone can tell me the equipment I should have on hang before, during, and after the move (ie brute cans, bags for coral, power heads air stone and stuff).

Please any help appreciated....I've been out of the hobby for a while so am a little rusty on everything and with this move Im terrified to kill off all the livestock

forgot to mention...it is an established system with a slight nitrate problem at the moment

have water made up and ready to use. get a few of those wall mart totes. i would put your coral in one instead of bags. put your rock also in a tote. when you get their put a power head and heaters with coral and rock. then you don't have to rush setting up the tank.

I would look into a vendor or lfs that you frequent, great idea and you can take your time setting up tank in new place

Problem is that I don't frequent any lfs cuz I'm just now getting back into te hobby and that's y I bought the whole set up instead of individual upgrades.
Getting lfs ppl to help sounds great but sounds like it might be expensive.

Also I keep reading that I need to put an air pump with a stone in the container with fish, but also read that having an air stone near gangs is dangerous. Should I or shouldn't I?

How long can fish/corals stay in the buckets given that temp and salinity stay stable and parameters are good?

Should I do any special cleaning of the items from the buyer? Like power heads and plumbing? And if yes, how or with what do I clean?

How long will it take to cure new plumbing (just the ball valves)?

Should I setup a qt tank and put all the fish in it?

Ok, I think I ran out of questions for now but I'm surveillance have a million by the times wake up tomorrow. All I can think about is the fishtank

Do as edd said. Walmart/Target 18gal totes with power heads. Take as much of your old water as you can in 5gal water jugs and have new water ready. You will be good to go!

Maybe gets bags and bag all of the fish put them in rubbermaid tote
This way you don't worry about airs tomes at all. I use vinegar/water and if needed an unscented mr clean sponge to clean my equipment, tank also. I don't know if I would use the sand many threads om that topic, up to you.
If you think it will take you more than a day to set up system a qt tank not bad idea If you have e means to set one up big enough for the livestock. Just as Ed suggested id make up as much water as possible, start heating it if you can as we'll.

thanks all!

I have a 25 gal tall somewhere in storage. would that be adequate QT for 2 clowns, 4 damsels (thinking of giving these away), blue throat trigger, scopes and hippo tangs? I dont think ill need a QT for more then a day or two but would it be adequate space for all the tangs and trigger?

Also, what if I put mostly new dead sand and just a few cps of the existing live sand? would that start a new cycle? the tank has about 50lbs of LR in it, should I add any marco's rocks?

oh, and im very confused as to weather I should or shouldn't use the water from the old tank or what the percentage of new to old water that i should really use

a tote will be work fine as a qt tank.
if you put a power head, you won't need an air stone. add a heater they will be good for a couple of days.
you don't have to cure plumbing.
like thirty-six said vinegar and water to clean equipment, i think that would be a good time to clean it, since everything will be out.
stop worrying, it really isn't that difficult just time consuming if live stock is tote qt set up then take your time.

My other suggestion Remove all your rocks without disturbing the sand. After corals are out of the tank and into a secure spot then take out as much water to prevent your fish from swimming away from you. It's easier to catch them. The real problem which I don't have advice is what to do about the nitate. It will be in your sand and rocks. But the rocks u can shake off in salt water. Cleaning the sand and transporting it will disturb your bacteria
