RODI Upgrade? 6 stage?

Im adding a 120g FOWLR system in my house. I already have a 40g reef tank. Im upgrading to a dual 75GPH RO membrane to increase the speed. I have a 8800 booster pump.

My question, would It be beneficial to add a another sediment filter? Not usre if it would be completely useless because if the first one gets dirtier it will still impact the over all system performance.

Brooklyn water is pretty disgusting with the rust issue. :fishhit:

I agree with you both. The only way it would be useful is if you had it as the first stage, but in a separate canister, perhaps even with a pressure gauge in line...or even with a bypass.... arg, this sounds complicated and destined to be a pain in the butt.

If I were you, I'd just change your sediment filter cartridge often. I don't know what sort of RO/DI you have, but for my BRS, the sediment filter cartridge is something like $ 3. That reminds me...I should change mine. I used to do it 3 times a year when I had the 50g...now that I'm making more water, every other month sounds like a good idea. The only annoying part is that in my case, i have to take EVERYTHING out from under the kitchen sink, then un screw the cannister, and it basically takes 2 hours to put everything back in (and make it all fit). But I guess it's worth it.

I agree completely about the water in NYC being a lot dirtier than is advertised. While NYC has low TDS, it apparently has high TSS, or so I've read. That's why things like sediment filters gunk up faster. It has something to do with the water tunnels coming from upstate being all busted and dirty...Die Hard 3 stuff. I saw something once that the EPA fines NYC often about this.
