I purchased a nice 5 headed torch a few weeks ago and it has been doing great. Just a few days ago I noticed one head was retracted and not looking well.

I do not want to jump ahead here but if that head dies ( no longer extends tentacles). Should I cut off that branch from the colony? Or will this just do more harm than good?

Tests are from a few days ago

Ca: 430
Phosphate: 0.02
Nitrate: <0.25
Kh: 6.7

Parameters are nearly perfect aside from alkalinity but added some 2 part yesterday

Seems like the one head is pretty much completely dead, although some parts slightly extended

Look up Brown Jelly disease. It's a bacteria that forms between the flesh if the polyps and the skeleton. It's looks like a reddish brown goo.
I'm not saying that's what you have, I was just giving you a better explanation of what was already stated :D

You can tell when a head just melts away out of no where, my levels are spot on and it happen to me. Your nutrients in the tank are high. Don't feed coral for a while. Get more snails that will help..
