so yeah, I just want to get an idea of what you guys are doing to keep temperature stable. I am just putting Ziplock ice bags, but let me tell you something it is a pain in the AS I am running out of frozen bags and half of them are leacking.:headache:

I utilize fans in the canopy and over the sump, 1/4 hp chiller inline, 6000 btu window unit to cool down the room that is heated by the chiller & floor fan to circulate the air.

So basically my meter smokes and LIPA thinks I'm growing mary J :lol2:

How many equipment you have in your tank?

One of my tank can shoot up to 90F in the past is now down to 80/82F with the newlly installed fan. The 7" clip on fan costed me $16. Thinking of putting one smaller one just incase as a spare.

Now I can put back on 4 x 65W light(used to be 6-can't fit with the fan there), a very big skimmer, an aquaclear powerhead and a powerhead that drive the ecosystems and temp is the most 82F for last two days including yesterday afternoon at 104F room temperature.

BTW I think icebag is not a good choice. If have to go that route of using frozen stuff. Use sode bottles or poland spring

I do get a new AC(unfortunately Goldstar is noisy) for the room but it did not fit the window and a chiller but guess no need to hook it now.

I've minimized my light cycle on my tank.

MH - 2 hours from 11pm to 1am (cooler time period and less expensive energy). I'm even thinking of no MH for August, maybe just one 20K 250watt HQI instead of three.
VHO - 5 hours.

Two large fans blowing across the water 24/7. Energy efficient pumps, it is amazing how much heat the pumps add to the water. AC in the room and a chiller that surprisingly doesn't go on very much with the above changes in effect for the summer months.

I got Central A/C in my house 24/7. Room temp never goes above 76 in the day (70 at night when the MH are on) - I need to keep the A/C on for Tonka (dog) anyway.
I have 2 fans on 24/7 (one in the canopy and one in the cabinet) plus two fans in the light hood (one in and one out). I have no chiller. My water temp is set to 81 and my heater often has to kick on to keep it up there.
I lose about 5 gal to evaporation a day (on 200 gal of water). This adds a lot of Ca(OH)2 via my auto-top-off for me. Dehumidifier runs every night in the basement to keep the air dry.

oh yeah, and ConEd just collected $400 from me for june.

I found something that works for me. I first put in, about two bags of ice to bring my temp slowly to 79 form 84. then I put this HUGE fan right beside the tank with the canopy open, so far the tank's temperature seems stable between 79-80*. I will see if I can put portable AC in the living room and take an extension and plug it in, in the kitchen, or else I'll have a blackout if I connect both AC in the same circuit. we have a long way to go with this heat wave!:tired:
