Forgot that I didn't post pics. It was too ugly and pink until I swapped leds. Even after I swapped the whites over to Evergrow 4500k, they were still too pink, even with the purple and red channels off, which tells me the optics screw heavily with the spectrum, or the blues do. Had to add some 10k and 14k leds in to even it out.

This is the 80 led one. Fixtures are nowhere near this purple in person.

jr, the purple/pink hue isn't too much with the fiji purple, coral plus (both pink/purpleish bulbs right? I have these on my ATI unit) PLUS the purple and red lEDs?

I really like the purpleish tint I get having 1-2 purplish bulbs mixed in with 4 blue +s, but i think one more purple bulb would drown out too much blue.

I too wait patiently for pics :)

Lol, I'd sell my ATI fixture and trade out for a dual LED and MH (I think...). I saw the ATI version of the mix in person and it is AWESOME but uh...near 2k.

That one is another "cool white" fixture. They wont look as good, or keep coral color as well as one that uses a good neutral white. 510W for a 20" fixture is also very disturbing, as I use less than 500W to light a 72" tank with two fixtures, and I have to turn those down even.

My Sosci is up for sale for a good price. Despite having 4 channels, I like my reefbreeders/evergrow a bit better overall.

I am coming to the realization that some of you have made already. I want LEDS for the sole reason of minimal heat and hopefully not having to change bulbs again but use of LEDS for actual reefs seems way to new, almost feels like a concept, as if we are still in the R&D phase.

Come November I have to buy $220 worth of VHO bulbs and T5 bulbs so timing is some what great.

I read over 100 pages from the thread BH started on RC last night, so I am somewhat up to speed.

Does anyone share the following concerns with any led fixture, recognized brand or generic?

Are repair parts available? if so how much?
If programmable, how much for a spare board and display
BH knows how to solder, most of us do not, which fixtures have a method of easy led replacement

I dont have much use for controllable leds since I am not home 8am to 6pm so the whole ramp up cycle would me missed by my family and I and corals dont really need it, 40+ years of successful coral keepers can attest to that. Def a neat toy but what if board and display fail once out of warranty.

I could go the inexpensive route and purchase D120's but would need 4 of them and it would be 8 power cords, messy.

I wish I could find a light that will cover the tank completely, come with 2 or 3 integrated timers, replaceable lenses, easy to change leds and one single power cord for $500-$600
