This is a new experiment! It is the sump for my 40 gallon Long Island Sound tidal zone aquarium. I stocked it with several native species. I have no idea which species will grow fast enough to reduce nitrate level. By the way when this stuff is stocked in the aquarium, the crabs eat it and/or rip it apart.

I see that my photo link failed. Stay tuned...

This is an experiment! I just stocked the sump for my Long Island Sound tidal zone aquarium with several species. I have no idea which species of alga will grow fast enough to reduce nitrate level (2-5 ppm). I cannot depend on algae stocked in show tank because the crabs eat it or rip it apart.

I think I am going to take the top 3 spots of this competition. It doesn't seem that my image of Frankenstein is the same as others. From urban dictionary.

Frankenstein
Verb. To combine two things in a crude manner, in which the component parts are still easily visible.
I was hungry but I wanted neither the fish nor the chicken, so I took a needle and thread and frankensteined them together.
