There is definitely a difference in coloration but price is normally based on SUPPLY&DEMAND. Also, some sellers are just ridiculous with prices.

Im not looking to buy, im just not sold on the fact that they are different. I guess Cherry Charms were named by Cherry Corals, but does that NOT make them pink and Golds under a different name?

These things grow like weeds in my tank, and i often give them away free, but sometimes I can't because everyone seems to have the same problem with them taking over..lol

Well, I definitely see a difference in coloration as the pink and golds just don't stand out like the Cherry Charms. I don't see them costing as much as some of the ones mikeytags is selling. Just looked again which he is only selling it for $40/5polyps. Only 8bucks a polyp which isn't bad at all.

The lighting plays a huge roll in how these guys look. I had them under a 250 watt MH and they look 100% like cherry charms, went to T5 and they faded a bit and didnt have that pop, I now have them under a single sol blue and they are back with the deep coloration. I guess we will never know with all the names flying around..:tired:

Also not picking on them or bashing them at all, but even cherry coral states in the fine print:

"Gorgeous and a great grower! You must provide high light to achieve this beautiful golden yellow color."

Which would prove why they look the same under my old 250 watt MH light and now under the sol blue.

Why not post pics of yours side by side with the Cherry Charms? BTW, I am not any shape or form invested in any vendor/even the corals mentioned. I just don't see how they look the same. You are correct that different lighting effects corals and their growth. A good example is red planet table. I just don't see any resemblance of the two mentioned.

Here some more help:

comparison_zps9f838c4d.jpg

I can't even see any comparison at all. Please remember people label stuff wrong all the time. Some people who don't know the name of an item "rewrite" names and sometimes sticks.

Thanks for posting pics. so you dont see the resemblance of say the top cherry charm paly in the pic and the pink and gold paly in the center pic (the one paly on the right)?

Everyone knows these vendor pics are photoshopped/ white balanced. the skirts are the same, and the growth rate is the same.. I dont have pics of my pink and golds at the moment but if your ever in the bronx stop by and im sure you would feel differently. I'd more than gladly give you a free frag, just incase they are cherry charms it would be good for you to have them and spread the wealth..lol

Anyway, I made this thread to see if anyone would see or know the big difference between the two if they might have both. I dont see a big difference except for maybe a white balance/ photoshop on the cherry charms.

Check these out. I got these a while back, and to me these can pass as cherry charms aswell. You have to see the resemblance now. :(

Not necessarily. The pink and golds are speckled/splashed while the top baby head of the center paly/zoas are lined. The center coloration between the two have a big difference between the mouth and the mouth area.

If I pass through your area, I love meeting other hobbyist so no need for a free frag. Thanks for the offer though! I like comparing my tank which is pretty bare at this point vs others and their style.

There is so many different configurations that I find it amusing to see others' setups!
