Miracle Mud

Has any one ever used miracle mud in there sump before? If so I would like to hear your experience with miracle mud. Is it worth spending the money on it?

Mike Paletta uses it. I am not sure if he has some sort of endorsement though because most people have said it's worthless.

the guy at my LFS swears by it. But other then that I havent been able to get a clear answer. And I would really like to know cuz I was considering putting it in my fuge

i was going to use it. read a lot of bad verses good. decided to go dsb in fuge

I remember seeing a link on another site that stated it was crap. They mostly found quartz in it. There was even pieces of brick in it, like it was dug up from someone's backyard lol. It was a while ago but I'll see if I can find the link

Eh, I tried it for 3 mos or so before my sump broke.
I did not see any noticeable changes. My tank already had tons of life in it, and I dosed reef plus (for a lot of the trace elements) once a week or so, so i dont know if it did benefit me or not.

When i was researching it, i got the sense that it was very helpful for folks that didnt pay attn to their trace elements and maybe started with base rock and never added other life sustaining rock/stuff to their tanks.

Otherwise, I can't imagine that the diversity of life in established tanks, in addition to either frequent water changes or some other way to replenish trace elements isn't enough to be equal to the intention of miracle mud and similar products.

those are just my thoughts based on net research, and my experience using it twice in the past 5 years.

IMO no miracle in the mud. It is snake oil.,,,just saying save your $
